Weird Sounds From The Bath House Vol.6

Alan Miller a.k.a DJ Hushpuppy has been running events in Glasgow for over 15 years.

Currently running a weekly party at the Glasgow School of Art under the name of RPZ and resident DJ at Death Disco he’s been playing a wide variety of sounds, firstly getting into strange dance and foreign disco way back in 1996 whilst airing easy listening, lounge and soul during one of his tenures.

Alan’s musical education widened during a ten year period working in music PR for the likes of I-F, DJ Hell, Dopplereffekt and a range of European record labels.

A collector of Northern Soul for many years in tandem with all his other musical passions where his playing style ranges from the latest digital electro through to rock to cosmic to prog to 60′s pop, Moog rarities, italo, street beat, synth pop, proto house, rave and smooth 70′s power pop. Pretty conclusive!

This mix is number 6 in the series of ‘Weird Sounds’ compilations. Originally started (Vol.1 is only available on cassette) as a mix to hand over to the Optimo Espacio crew back in 1999 to persuade them to give Alan a shot at playing the back room of their night, it resulted in him playing there for a short period where he got the chance to play out the music he loved, such as Tantra, Martin Circus, Black Devil and Black Bass Band to an appreciative crowd.

We’ve really enjoyed this mix from the minute it landed at Cosmic HQ a couple of months back and have no doubt you’ll find it getting heavy rotation on your media player of choice over the coming weeks.
