hahaha, pure ableton-mp3-mix bliss, too bad !
@ The World:
How so?
some DJH lurkers mixing mp3s which names they have collected, one year ago minimal, then rave, now deep house, just some hipsters.
The medium/format or how you ‘mix’ them doesn’t matter surely?
Although there are more avenues from which to obtain your music it still has to filter through the person selecting/programming the set.
trends come and go, it’s what keeps pushing things forward…
disagreed !
everyone can do a clean ableton mix in a minute.
tracks like the raghupati from osibisa : can you hear the bass ? can you hear the smerky shakers and tambourine ?
its am mp3 of an mp3 and thats not good quality.
“trends come and go, its what keeps pushing things forward ”
forward ? is balearic or disco forward ?
actually there is no forward anymore as the new songs all sound cold and will never get the richness of the old analogue production ways. look at house.
What’s wrong with people using available technology to their advantage?
Is it the sound quality you have issues with?
Yes, we all know mp3′s are compressed, as a result you lose quality but for bandwidth purposes on a website it has it’s uses. Who wants to stick an uncompressed WAV file of a mix on their IPod/Media player? Playing out live is a different matter but on an online mix?
Looking at the play-list the guys may well have everything on vinyl, other than maybe Arpadys track which is a killer to find the OG LP, (Unless it’s the bootleg) so making such assumptions is a little unfair.
there are plenty of new artists who are influenced by old disco/balearic who sound fresh and use new technology wise and dont sounding cold production wise.
People have always looked back for influences to go forward…
Anyway, appreciate the comments dude.
lets put it like this : guy has no records, its not him on the pic plus the own nothing but mp3 from blogs plus the played rave not a year ago plus those parties on the pictures are only good on picture, want me to go on ?
i chose the picture from the gallery on their site and know its not them but they dont mind.
you obviously have some personal beef with them of which im no longer interested to explore any further.
would you like to submit our listeners with a mix of your own? that i would be interested in… email me the download link and i will book you in buddy…

just noticed this discussion going on

play out or do mixtapes using computer. sadly it doesnt make you a good dj possessing all the rare vinyl – this makes you a collector! and there is a difference (and the crowd knows the difference!)
))
chris, i think its kind of presumptuous to name yourself “the world” …
just to put things straight, “guy” has and plays records, guy never played rave music !!! i used to hear shitloads of hiphop, rock and all kinds of music though. never really liked most of the electro stuff i have to admit. this is actually why we started to do eclectic parties by the way – we were bored of the techno sound which was all over berlin.
yes i made this mix on the computer (“live” on torq without overdubbing or ableton), which i see no disgrace in really.
djs like greg wilson, terje, kerry chandler, gerd janson, richie hawtin & many more
it also doesnt make you a dj if you can beatmatch. i`m sure you can teach a monkey to beatmatch.
haha yeah those parties just look good on pictures, in fact they are boring as shit. everyone is just pretending having fun.
actually i think its a hipster phenomenon to play “rare” italo only sets, no??
hope its fair to post one of your mixtapes? its probably really rare stuff innit
