Chris de Multifunkshun – Adriano Celentano – Tribute to Italo Disco
Categories: Music
Etoro Records released their first annual Christmas series compilation back in December featuring a diverse selection of music. The release features 12 hand picked tracks by Isa GT who aims to transpose the South American party vibe, and avoid the usual holiday sounding songs, in turn creating a soundtrack for the season.
The stand out track in the release is from Frenchman Chris de Multifunkshun who recorded the track in Paris last Spring. It’s an original track making use of an MPC 3000, some Arp synths and a Kawai electronic piano with vocals by the Modets. Chris is keen to point out that no samples were used and it shows. It’s a tribute to the early Italo sound with influences echoed through the lyrics which sing the iconic band names of the genre : Kasso, Koxo, Komiko, Gino Soccio, Asso and Adriano Celentano who was one of the one of the biggest Italian artists of the era. This is about as close as it gets to Italo Disco.
Chris now resides in London after a move from Paris where he promoted a party called Multifunkshun at the Elysee Montmartre music hall in Paris. More recently Chris promoted the Cliche party in Shoreditch at the Horse & Groom where they staged guests such as Drop the Lime and Cosmic Disco favourite, Alexander Robotnik.
We’re already looking forward to Chris’ next production. You can listen to Adriano Celentano via Soundcloud along with the remainder of the compliation from Etoro.
