Baggy – Dig For Victory

It’s been quite some time since I last posted one of my own mixes and I’m still (Albeit slowly…) working on the final installment of the Space Race series which will be a ‘Best of’ mix featuring my favourite tracks taken from the previous 9 editions.

In the meantime I threw together a little compilation from a pile of albums taking up residency in the corner of my apartment.

All the tracks featured on this mix have been lifted from the dusty (Some filthly) vaults at a number of my favourite shops all over Lancashire and the north west of England. Check ‘Diggers Guide‘ for details of a couple of haunts…

As usual I like to keep things pretty laid back with no technical wizardy. A selection of what you can find if your prepared to put in some time ploughing through those crates…

Enjoy. ;-)

That’d be Mr. Morrison and The Doors no doubt. Track taken from the album ‘American Prayer’.
There is another L.A (Beverley Hills) based artist on this mix also. He gets a passing reference on the recently broadcast BBC4 documentary – ‘Hotel California – LA: From The Byrds To The Eagles’ watch it if you can, great doc with some brilliant insight into some amazing artists and the emerging scene of the time. Try BBC I-Player. If not available then i can highly recommend reading Barney Hoskyns book ‘Hotel California; Singer Songwriters & Cocaine Cowboys in The LA Canyons 1967-1976′. Basically the BBC took this book and made a documentary from it. (Sorry Niles, you can have it next! ;-) ) Great stuff either way…
The album (The track i featured) also features the OG version of ‘Get It Up For Love’ which you may recognise from Tata Vega who did a disco version on Motown a few years later.
Said artist has to be one of my fave singer/songwriters.
Also worked with the Average White Band… ;-)
