Cosmic Disco Best of 2009
Posted on 30. Dec, 2009 by baggy.
2009 has been quite a year for us all here at Cosmic Disco…
After having the pleasure of playing at Glastonbury on behalf of The Guardian it seemed like the music world had picked up on the ‘Cosmic Disco’ bandwagon and pinned the label onto everything from underground club nights (Every flyer seemed to have the [...]

Makin Music December – The Best of 2009
Posted on 21. Dec, 2009 by baggy.
Firstly, apologies for those waiting on the October and November editions of the Makin Music podcast as the last edition was back in September when we were invited to host a show on Salford City FM for the Radio NuBoogie programme.
Hopefully the December edition more than makes up for the lack of podcasts as we [...]

Baggy – Italians Do It Better Guest Mix
Posted on 19. Dec, 2009 by baggy.
Living (As well as DJ’ing) in city centre Manchester means that I’m pretty much up to speed with every single musical event that occurs in our rainy city. Or so I’d have you think…
Whilst chatting to Italians Do It Better label owner Mike Simonetti regarding an IDIB tour of the UK he asked if I [...]

Voyeurhythm EP 2
Posted on 17. Dec, 2009 by silvestre.
Hardly promoted, celebrated or spun around, this young Dutch label is all quality with surprisingly no fillers.
Every record has its B side, and on many occasions you are subjected to some weak musical effort. Not the case here.
Now with their second release, Voyeurhythm Holland prove to be up to date with the so-called beatdown house [...]

Last month good friend and Italians Do It Better label owner; Mike Simonetti, was in town DJ’ing so we decided to hook up for a few hours and head out to north Manchester for a late afternoon dig around the used record stores. As a result we found some stunning pieces of vinyl of which [...]

House of House – Rushing To Paradise (Walkin’ The Streets) [DJ Harvey Remix]
Posted on 07. Dec, 2009 by silvestre.
I have been championing this track for some time now. Initially released on cult and elitist label Whatever We Want at an extortionate price, the 12″ disappeared quickly from the shops and just added to the myth of a song that did not need it because it stands on its own league. Massive, epic, emotional [...]

Belson – Psychic Soul II
Posted on 04. Dec, 2009 by niles.
About 18 months ago a mix was posted up on DJHistory by Belson – a hazy selection of Folk Rock, downtempo Soul grooves and psychedelic otherwordly sounds.
As soon as I heard the mix I loved it and pestered the aforementioned Belson for a follow-up mix and now, as a pre-Christmas treat, we have it.
Psychic Soul [...]
