As a thank you to all supporters of Cosmic Disco and Cutloose we have decided to join forces for a special one-off party where we are flying over one of the most respected underground DJ’s in the world right now.

No other than Mark Seven is making a Manchester appearance (That’s almost as rare as some of his records!) for what is going to be a very special Xmas party on Saturday 27th Decemeber.

We’ve trawled the clubs/spaces/derelict warehouses of Manchester looking for the perfect setting to install the best possible sound-system we could lay our hands on, fly over our favourite DJ and round up 200 of our closest friends for one last blow-out before we start again in 2009.

The Venue

After much deliberation we decided that Bookbinders (10 Minshull St, Manchester) would be the ideal venue to hold this party. Regularly known as a ’singles’ club we are taking the sleazy setting of this basement space and installing a full resolution 4, Funktion 1 sound system (Complete with rotary mixing console) so we can experience Mark Seven’s rare vinyl selections in all their glory.

Mark Seven

Mark is quickly gaining legendary status within the underground dance community. A renown record collector he’s also responsible for buying choice cuts for the fantastic Jus’ Wax records, where he regularly flies across the pond to pick up the finest collections from a number of legendary DJ’s & producers to bring back specifically your spotting perusal. Cosmic HQ have have spent many hours scouring Jus’ Wax ticking off tracks from our wants list to log off a good few £’s lighter.

Mark is certainly no stranger to the underground music scene as his involvement goes as far back as the early 80’s, from promoting parties such as ‘Bizarre’ on the then fledgling Balearic scene, in addition to being a regular at the Rampling organised ‘Shoom’ events. In recent years, Mark has co-promoted ‘The Lodge’ and NY Social parties where he has introduced the likes of Prins Thomas & Phil Mison to the US scenes.

If this wasn’t enough, Mark is also responsible for the excellent Divine Edit 12″s on Creative Use (’Higher’ being a classic ‘end-of-nighter’) and with further edits and original productions scheduled for release in 2009. To say we are excited to bring him to Manchester is somewhat of an understatement. Cutloose

Cutloose are one of Manchester’s most forward thinking collectives and we are huge fans of what they have been doing over the last few months. Theo Parrish, Roland Appel, Loud-E and Beppe Loda have all had the Cutloose treatment so it is nothing less than an honour that we have the chance to collaborate with them on this party. The guys are also bringing the amazing Metro Area to their Manchester residency @ Spektrum on Friday 5th December where they are going to be giving anyone who attends this party guaranteed entrance to the Mark Seven event by simply collecting one of the invites that will be available for collection on the door. Ask one of the guys working the door for a ‘Mark Seven Invite’ and bring this to Bookbinders with you. This is a free party (Donations on the night welcome) and all you have to do is register your interest via our Mark Seven - EventWax page and follow the 3 easy steps to get your email confirmation. This is a limited capacity event so once the tickets are gone; they really are gone!  (Unless you collect an invite at the Cutloose Metro Area party!). For this reason we strongly recommend you get a ticket/invite and arrive early to avoid disappointment.
