Tom Savarese was one of the pioneers of the 1970’s disco scene. A legendary DJ in every sense of the word.

For those of you in need of a little history lesson: (*Takes deep breath*)

  • Voted the No.1 Disco DJ by Billboard Magazine’s music forums on several occasions.
  • The first DJ to edit a top ten single with Chic’s mega smash ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’.
  • The first program director of the legendary ‘Disconet’ remix service.
  • The first DJ at the legendary discoteque ‘12 West’ as well working at other luminary clubs such as Le Club, Ice Palace, Hollywood, The Sandpiper, Hurrah’s, Flamingo and Trocadero Transfer to name only a few.
  • Has received gold records for Peter Brown’s ‘Do Ya Wanna’ Get Funky With Me?’ and Macho’s ‘I’m A Man’
  • Has also worked in the studio on disco classics involving The Erotic Drum Band, Ednah Holt, Sleek, Judy Cheeks, Aural Exciters, Lizzy, Amadeo and Claudja Barry and that’s just for starters.

Phew!

It’s a pleasure to host a new mix from such a pioneer. Leave your feedback in the comments section below and enjoy!

That mix leaves a lot to be desired.. you can’t hype a disco legend then provide a mix that doesn’t match that hype. You can be a great DJ and still be out of touch.

    Those are the breaks Nathan.
Tom’s obviously moved on since his disco days.
Still, we gotta be respectful for what he has achieved.
