Byrne & Eno set to release an ‘Electronic Gospel’
After a staggering 27 years David Byrne and Brian Eno have put aside the differences that surfaced during the recording of their seminal 1981 release of ‘My Life In The Bush of Ghosts’ to once again collaborate on what is going to be a self released album entitled ‘Everything That Happens Will Happen Today’ via everythingthathappens.com
Whereas ‘My Life…’ featured countless styles focusing on electronics, ambience and world music with the heavy use of samples and instrumentalism, ‘Everything That Happens…’ will focus on Byrne’s lyrics and vocals over Eno’s electronic wizardry.
‘More a collection of songs…’ Eno elaborated on Byrne’s ‘electronic gospel’ when he was quoted as saying ‘When we started this work, we began to think we were making something like electronic gospel, a music where singing was the central event whose sonic landscapes were not the type normally associated with that way of singing’.
If you head over to the release site and sign up you will be entitled to a free download of ‘Strange Overtones’ (Taken from the album) on 4th August. On the 18th the full album will be available to buy as a digital download as well as being available via streaming. Non virtual music lovers can get their hands on regular and deluxe CD editions (Release date tbc) which will include artwork by Stefan Sagmeister.
Starting September, Byrne also starts a tour where he’ll be playing tracks from this new album in addition to music from his previous collaboration with Eno from the aforementioned ‘My Life…’ LP. It’s a U.S tour only so those of you who are based/or will be in the states can catch them on the following dates: 18/09 - Ferguson Centre for the Arts, Newport, 20/09 - Chastain Park Amphitheatre, Atlanta, 26/09 - Zilker Park, Austin, 30/09 - Orpheum Theatre, Pheonix, 02/10 - Humpries Concerts, San Diago and finally on 04/10 - Arlington Theatre, Santa Barbara.

Looking out for this!
Have you heard that tune he’s done with Fatboy Slim and Dizee Rascal?
It’s rubbish, but DB’s vocal is aces.
