Elliot Mess [Naive Melody] – 7″ Pinch

Elliot Mess [Naive Melody] – 7″ Pinch

Posted on 14. Feb, 2008 by thp in Articles, Mixes we didn't make

Elliot: This mix is basically a bunch of tracks I listened to over and over again while I sat and sketched like a nerdy recluse in my shitty little flat in Manchester about a year ago.

These aren’t the type of tracks I’d usually play at our parties, but I wanted to get to play them somewhere eventually so making a mix made sense. I didn’t really know much about a lot of the tracks at the time (with the exception of the more well-known ones like the Y Pants and ACR), and they introduced me to a load of other bands – ones that didn’t belong to the typical New York genre I was used to.

I love these records, and making this mix was all about having fun. These artists have made some great albums, too – check them out.

  • Los microwaves – Tv in my eye
  • Surplus stock – stress
  • Max & Malcolm – Why do tigers wander through my mind
  • Missing presumed dead – kill the postman/hyperactive
  • A Certain Ratio – I fail
  • Citizen UK – Dining on expense
  • Pylon – yo – yo
  • Subjects – High life
  • Gang 90 – Dada Globe Orixas (spaced out in paradise)
  • Futurisk – Poison Ivy
  • Mathematiques Modernes – A + B = C
  • Y Pants – favourite sweater
  • Candidate – Strange girl
  • Standard of Living – she loves you
  • Winter Light – Crash Comma (Dub)
