Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow
Perhaps a strange choice for a Cosmic Disco post but EPCOT is for my money the most ‘Cosmic’ place you are likely to visit in your life.
EPCOT was originally planned by Walt Disney (the man as opposed to the corporate machine) as a “model community, home to twenty thousand residents, which would be a test bed for city planning and organization. The community was to have been built in the shape of a circle, with businesses and commercial areas at its center, community buildings and schools and recreational complexes around it, and residential neighborhoods along the perimeter. Transportation would have been provided by monorails and PeopleMovers”.
Now a theme park contained within the Walt Disney World resort in Florida, USA - EPCOT contains some of the best spacey ‘electronica’ you are likely to hear outside of a Beppe Loda set.
The place is a late 70’s/early 1980’s ideal of the ‘future’ and is all glass, chrome and minimalism with swooshing instrumental synthesized tracks playing constantly in the background.
Channeling the spirit of Tron, George Jetson and Buck Rodgers - February’s mix from myself is an 80 minute ambient space journey.
