Show 57: Makin Music
Niles this week discovers that after playing far too much ‘Oblivion’ on the 360 he has subconsciously gained the magical ability to be able to turn Baggy’s stomach all ‘a-quiver’ simply by playing a T-Rex record.
Baggy is so gutted at the thought that he’s never previously heard said track he’s audibly shocked from the thought of going 29 years without owning a single Bolan record. We have a feeling it won’t be long before he hunts down a copy of Electric Warrior for himself.
The boys are still on their epic excursion through ‘Chill-Rock’ with Niles showcasing some his newer purchases of the ‘Section’ variety. No fewer than 5 ‘Section’ affiliated tracks are featured on this week’s Podcast.
If this is up your street and you are in Manchester city centre this coming weekend (Saturday 22nd September) then make sure you check out Niles & Baggy who are the guest DJ’s at Manchester’s premier art-house cinema that is the Cornerhouse, hosting the entire evening’s musical programme from 8pm-midnight. FREE ENTRY!
Come along and say hello or just laugh at Baggy’s silly hairstyle. Either way you can expect ‘Balearock’ of the highest quality…

Mike Bryan Says:
Wow, T-Rex. I grew up with them. Have been listeningto them now for just 25 years. Every album, single inside out etc etc.
I started by hearing my sister play the early albums and singles and by watching “So It Goes” on tv. I think that was what it was called.
The best way to get into them is thus :
Go to Tesco, spend £7.99 on the T-Rex Solid Gold Collection 3cd collection.
Listen to it to death.
Then go buy the first 5 or so remastered albums with the beautiful booklets, extra tracks etc.
Love these to death.
Then seek out a solid vinyl copy of Electric Warrior.
Then start on Cat Stevens.

I’d say the best way to get into Bolan is to go through the John’s Children albums, then by Beard of Stars, T.Rex and Electric Warrior.
I like his elf-wizard folk noodly stuff.
T-Rex Solid Gold has some beauts on it though.

The Sweet ARE ace though.
‘Funk It Up’ on a 12″ goes for over £100.
