Show 39: Makin Music
Test, Test, Test…
More frustration this week as the UK Grime kids have obviously been showing their turntable dexterity, resulting in none of the mics being able to be run through the desk so it’s strictly solo mic action for Show 39. (Why, oh why do we pay our fees?)
After a contentious start we soldier through with Peter Masters phoning us in the studio half way through the show, excited that he has a few new platters he’d like to share with us. How could we refuse?
Ignoring the Daft Punk styled microphone effects we have some great music for you to listen to. Standout tracks on show 39 are undoubtably from ‘The Bombers’ and ‘Eddie Henderson’, a break heavy ‘Rod Stewart’ stomper and a surprise Balearic bomb from ‘The Beastie Boys’. Baggy’s tip for the top is from Rubies
Baggy feels the pressure to keep up his phenomenal run of form as he pursues 4 from 4 in the ‘Word of The Week’ section assisted by Pete ‘Bamber Gascoigne’ Masters. Can they do it?
Towards the end of the show things get silly with Niles starting and finishing a 15 minute Kitsch section, K.O’ing Baggy with the Theme from The Pink Panther!
The sound of Cosmic Disco can also be heard this very weekend (28th April) at Pure Space in Manchester city centre as we play a 2hr set for the Nite Shift 2nd Birthday party in aid of Systic Fibrosis and the Marcello Gianni Cancer Fund.
The £5 entrance fee going to two very good causes, giving you plenty of reasons to join us. Also on deck duties are Manchester’s finest selectors in Moonboots and Balearic Mike.
Oh yeah, Greg Wilson is also warming up for us…
